The Importance of Physical Activity
Schools are the best places to address inactivity. It’s vital to remember that physical activity helps us to live longer and reduces the risk of getting diseases.
Physical activity is not just good for your body. It is also good for your mind, mood and quality of life. It can help you manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. It can also improve your brain health, memory and reduces the risk of depression.
Involving students in the physical education activities in school can be a bit challenging for the teachers, but the old saying says that “it takes a village to raise a child” can motivate all school teachers and parents to help PEMAC teachers familiarise students with the importance of physical activities.
One of the most important part of school-based physical activity promotion is physical education. This needs to be properly and thoroughly addressed at school level.
